HOW TO GET TO SALAMANCA

Abroad: if you are coming from abroad, the easiest way is to take a plane to Madrid (Barajas Airport), and then take a bus (Avanza Bus) or train (RENFE), both of which run frequently. From Madrid to Salamanca the journey takes approximately two hours. If you are coming from Portugal or France you can travel by bus or train.

Car: by car, the A-62 and A-66 motorways will take you to the city. To get there from Madrid, take the A-50 motorway.

Bus: if you opt for the bus, there is an Avanza Bus company bus line that runs directly from Madrid-Barajas airport to Salamanca. The stop at Barajas is located in Terminal 1 of the airport, in the car park opposite the arrivals hall. Tickets for this service and timetables can be purchased on its website (www.avanzabus.com), at the usual ticket offices and inside the airport itself, at the El Corte Inglés travel agency, located on the first floor of Terminal 1. There are regular bus lines that, with their corresponding connections, allow you to get to Salamanca from any Spanish or European city. From Madrid-Barajas airport, the best option to get to Madrid South Bus Station (Avanza Bus Company, C/ Méndez Álvaro) is to take metro line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios station and then line 6 to Méndez Álvaro. You can also take a taxi if you don’t want to change lines.
